Alastair graduated in 1984 gaining a BSc
Honours degree in Civil Engineering from Glasgow University.
After spending 4 years abroad working on major projects
in the Falkland Islands and North Africa, Alastair returned
to the UK where he worked for main contractors for a further
2 years.
Since joining Gallagher in 1990, he has served as both
Project Manager and Contracts Manager before taking over
as Managing Director in 2001.
Alastair is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution
of Civil Engineers. He also serves on the CONSTRUCT council
and is a member of the committee developing a new code
of practice for the industry. |

John joined the company in 1988.
In 1989 he took up a 5 year course studying quantity surveying
at Guildford Technical College. He then continued his
studies, attending Southbank University for a further
3 years, where he gained a BSc honours degree in quantity
surveying.
John started with the company as an assistant quantity
surveyor / estimator and worked his way to becoming managing
surveyor in 1998.
In 2001 John became Commercial Director. His roll today
includes overseeing all estimating, quantity surveying
and accounts for the company. |

John and Michael Gallagher came over from
Ireland in the early 1960's
After establishing Michael J.Gallagher Contractors Limited
in 1965, they rapidly grew the company through the 1970's
and 1980's into a multi-million pound organization.
Today they are both resident in Ireland but regularly
return to the UK. |
